Increasingly, international household surveys, such as the World Health Survey (WHO), the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (UNICEF) and the Demographic and Health Survey (ORCMacro/USAID) collect information on household energy practices. The questionnaires are similar but not identical. In particular, the appropriate distinction between different stoves can be challenging; a card with diagrams may help interviewers and interviewees assess stove types correctly. With support from Aprovecho Research Center and with input from UNICEF and ORCMacro, WHO has prepared a revised set of four questions on cooking practices and a stove card.
